The skin care regimen on this page is designed for dry skin. If you don’t know your skin type yet, go here.

The primary goals of the dry skin regimen are to keep the skin smooth and hydrated, and reduce irritation.

Morning

1. Cleanse

In the morning, the cleansing step will consist of rinsing your face with water only. Do not use any cleansing products.

2. Tone

After cleansing, apply an alcohol-free toner using a cotton pad.

A toner will give your skin the right pH balance. (A pH imbalance may lead to skin dryness.) In addition, the toner prepares the skin for better absorption of the day and night creams.

Note that even though there are many alcohol based toners, in my experience, alcohol free ones work best for all skin types. An alcohol-free toner won't strip your own natural moisture nor irritate your skin.

Recommended toner:
Tonifying Lotion by Decleor

3. Moisturize and Protect

After applying the toner, moisturize your face, and for maximum effectiveness, moisturize before your skin dries.

Rich, creamy moisturizers are especially good for dry skin since those have a lot of hydrating potency.

To protect against harmful sun rays, pick a moisturizer that has an SPF (sun protection factor) of 15 or higher.

If your skin feels dry, reapply the moisturizer throughout the day as needed.

Night (Right Before Bedtime)

1. Cleanse

Wash your face with a gentle milky cleanser to remove dirt and makeup.

Recommended cleansers:
Gentle Daily Cleanser by Kinerase or
Pur-Delicate by Pur~lisse or
Cleansing Milk by Decleor or
Moisture Rich Cleanser by Murad

2. Tone

As in the morning.

3. Exfoliate

Exfoliation peels off dead skin cells and leaves your skin more refreshed and better capable of absorbing nutrients. To exfoliate, use exfoliating pads or cream.

Exfoliate one night a week, but if you find that the surface of your skin is becoming too dry, red or irritated, stop exfoliating for a period of time.

Also skip exfoliation during summertime, or if you are vacationing or residing in a very sunny area, as exfoliation leaves your skin exposed and prone to sun damage and discoloration.

Recommended exfoliants:
Alpha Beta Daily Face Peel by Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare or
Advanced Radiance Facial Peel by Kinerase or
Instant Radiance Facial Peel by Kinerase or
Phytopeel – Natural Exfoliating Cream by Decleor

4. Moisturize and Treat

Next, whether exfoliating or not, apply a rich moisturizing night cream. The purpose of a night cream is to moisturize and treat your skin with smoothing and anti-aging ingredients.

Recommended night creams:
Essential-C Night Moisture by Murad or
PhotoFacials Night Moisturizer by Kinerase or
Ultra Rich Night Repair by Kinerase or
Aroma Night Regenerating by Decleor
